Most insurance companies provide the facility to add named drivers to the policy, usually with conditions as to age and length of time the named drivers have held a full licence.
Usually a quick telephone call to the insurance company will provide temporary cover for the named driver - before they drive it. An additional fee is usually required, but not always.
Many insurance companies will provide 'any driver' insurance but this is expensive as the company is guaranteeing to insure motorists they have no knowledge of.
yes i knew this, but someone lent someone i knew a car and said they can drive it due to the type of insurance they have but i thought this didnt seem right
Similar to Ethels answer, if the main policyholder takes out a policy which covers any driver, then yes, anybody who holds a full licence can use that particular vehicle, with the owners permission.
I have done research into this, what it is...if mr X was FULLY COMP on his car then he can drive mrs Y's car only with her permission and if she too is fully comp, however if mr x crashs her car then its only covered under Third Party, so its insured but they will not pay for damage on mrs y's car, etc etc you know the score with third party
