Why do a lot of car sellers on eBay say they don't want test drivers...Surely it's the main selling point of a car?

They mean exactly what they say,
test pilots for aeroplanes don't actually buy a plane,
so as not to have their time wasted by idiots who just want to TEST the car & have no intention of buying it - they just think it may suit them & then discover it is not as good as they hoped, some people even wait in for a prospective buyer that never turns up,
also buyers may not have insurance to actually allow then to drive the vehicle.
hopefully it puts off the IDIOTS that do this to people!
i love ebay
& answerbank sometimes!

Lets face it. Apart from specialised cars, very expensive cars and those which are definitely local. There is no point if eBay as a trading place for cars. And even the expensive ones can turn out to attract crooks.
So why would anyone travel a great distance to see a car.
Because the sellers and (prospective) buyers are a load of pretensious warnkers.

despite what ebay say, it'd NOT an auction in any legal sense of the word, and they do tell you this in the very small print, yet you still get muppets advertising rubbish with 'you bid to buy, not look' etc.....but there's no legal obligation to actually buy anything you've 'won', as it's not an auction.
Then again, anyone who'll 'bid' on a car without looking at it and driving it first is a bit silly!

My Point exactly mr rusty.... oh and gsr600; what if I did not drive the car, bid for it and won it and then realise the gearbox was shot or it drove realy badly....or even a simple one like I could't get a decent seating position in the car or it was uncomfortable to be in it as it was such a soft or hard ride?
