I understand that if bank's do not supply your statements within a certain time frame from the request, they are liable to a fine from the FSA. Is this is true and if so:

1. How long is the time frame?
2. What is the potential fine?

I am researching this for an atircle with a deadline looming so any info greatly appreciated.

I believe that you may be referring to the 40 calendar day time limit to respond to requests for information made under the Data Protection Act 1998.

Under Section 42 an individual has the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioners Office.

Section 60 of the DPA currently provides for:
* On summary conviction, a fine not exceeding the statutory maximum (currently 5,000); and
* On conviction on indictment, a fine (which is unlimited).
