myself and 2 friends will be traveling from leeds to london (returning the following day) next month - whats the best/cheapest way to get tickets ?

Try National Rail Enquiries website and look for an advance saver ticket. These are available for certain trains which are running outside peak times and vary according to the day of travel.

I booked a return ticket from North Lincs to Heathrow for �34 travelling offpeak in Sept/Oct

Go to the GNER website . When you have the return prices up press the button that says two singles may be cheaper.

Any of the rail web sites will do - but some of the time at least GNER give a further discount on their own trains.
