Dirty Joke

(I mentioned this in a reply to another question but I thought it may be worth asking in its own right.) I was recently watching an episode of the Simpsons in which there was a re-telling of the story of the Trojan horse. At one point Ned Flanders looked at the wooden horse and said (something like): "Wow, whenever I see wood in future, I'll think Trojan". This is the only time I've ever noticed a dirty joke in (what 's supposed to be) a children's TV programme (although I haven't seen many episodes of the Simpsons). Does anyone know of any other examples? (Don't bother with the one about Captain Pugwash- I'm sure that one's just a myth.)

The Simpsons isn't advertised as a kid's show here in north america. It's on at 8 or 9pm and it's full of adult humor that kids wouldn't understand. Other shows of the same genre are Futurama and King of the Hill not sure if you get them in the U.K.

If that's a "joke" then it's very well disguised. What is the joke? In what way is "seeing wood" or "thinking Trojan" funny? Am I missing something?

by the way, yes the one about Captain Pugwash is an urban myth which was invented by a comedian in the 1970s, and the writer of CP has successfully sued a few publications when they repeated the story.

The Simpsons is full of dirty jokes, I distinctly remember Dr. Hibbert prescribing himself with "one hot meat injection" at Homer's barbecue. I think the writers are also an a quest to find as many different double entendres with the word "booby" as well!

I should point out that the clip Stav's Back has linked to was not actually part of a broadcast show. It was a special done strictly for the amusement of staff at the TV station (Thames TV).

Another dirty joke in the Simpsons (quoting from snpp.com) (for those that don't know, Smithers is gay, though this fact is only implied, it being a "kids show" and all): In "King Homer" Marge comes to a dock on foggy evening in response to an ad placed by Mr. Burns (Denham�s ego). She says that she would like the job, and Mr. Burns is glad to have her. After Marge goes on board, Burns looks for the opinion of his first mate, Smithers. Smithers objects to having her on board, saying, "Women and seamen don�t mix."

"The Simpsons" is [b]full[/b] of adult/risqu� jokes and jokes that kids won't get. There's one episode where Santa's Little Helper (the dog) is given away, and when Bart eventually tracks him down, the new owner is caught with some *ahem* smokeables in his pocket. The final scene has the entire Springfield PD pulling up at the house with cans of beer while reggae music is playing...

If you ever watch 'The Hoobs' on C4 - it's for toddlers but there always seems to be innuendo lurking in every episode e.g. when they are carrying a pie and there's a line like 'let's get this tart upstairs!' Maybe it's just my filthy mind...

Thanks for your replies- some of them were really funny. It seems that US programmes (well, the Simpsons anyway)are often risque. We don't seem to get this so much in the UK. But I vaguely remember an episode of Blue Peter in which someone stood in front of a church door and sniggered as he refered to a lovely pair of knockers.

Another Simpsons dirty joke is when Bart falls asleep in church and dreams of the David and Goliath story. Krusty the clown is a biblical court jester who says something along the lines of: 'i'm not saying Jezebel was easy but before she visited Sodom it was known for it's pottery.' I also remember watching an ant and dec kid's show where they were doing a sketch about castaways that had to resort to cannibalism. There were lots of jokes about 'who wants some head' and at one point someone asks if that's dec's ring, to which the reply came i don't know i didn't know him that well.
