My unknowing foreign friend tried to help yesterday by cleaning my computer monitor with a lot of furniture polish. The result is a very streaky screen! Nice shades of a blue sheen. I've tried wiping it with the chamois leather I have for cleaning it but it's not moving the marks. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions. I'd like it back to it's shiny clean self. Thanks.

Have you tried using a product specifically designed for cleaning screens? You can buy such things in PC world or similar places. Sorry can't think of a brand name off hand. Something like white spirit would almost certainly work as a very last resort, but definitely do a tiny patch test first as it can cause cloudiness! this worked on our standard old style glass-screened monitor.
Is it a TFT/LCD (flat screen) monitor or a CRT (glass front, deep thing) one?
Here a few things I've used on our 'glass' monitor: Spray window cleaner used with kitchen roll, Mr Muscle Kitchen Vinegar water They're all great for removing those annoying finger marks and also the biro that finds its way onto the case!!! If you have a TFT screen I'd get advice from the manufacturer...better safe than sorry.

It's a glass screen. I'm going to give the vinegar water a go tomorrow. Thanks for the tips I'll let you know if it works.
