tick on a cat

How can I get a tick of my cats chin?
I've tried pulling it with tweezers and it just won't budge
He had his last flea treatment 2 weeks ago.
Help! Someone has suggested putting spirits on it or tea tree?

are you sure it is a tick? personally I wont touch 'em as you really need the special tool and I dont like the things anyway, only time one of my dogs had one I took it to the vets!!

Unwise to tamper yourself - you may pull the body out and leave the head and motuh parts behind, which will then infect.

Take him to the vets and get the job done properly - better for all concerned.

Or you can simply douse a cotton swab in rubbing alcohol and rub it on and around the tick. He'll back out and then you can pick him up with a pair of tweezers or a latex gloved hand. Here, in the western U.S., we see a number of ticks throughout the season (some even on humans). This method works well plus the alcohol sterilizes the area around the bite. The Old Timers used to strike a wooden match, extinguish it and immediately apply the hot end to the tick... I suppose it works but prefer the alcohol instead. Best of luck! (as andy states, be sure not to pull it out though!)

If our dogs get ticks we thickly coat the tick with vaseline. It seem to work because they soon drop off.

Hmm. I've removed hundreds of ticks from my dogs by just pulling them out, and I have yet to leave the head in the skin. I guess I'm lucky.
