Bush v Kerry
Apparently the presidential race is pretty much neck and neck.
Does anyone else find this hard to believe? Why on earth is Bush still so popular?

Despite what the majority of Europeans think is evidence to the contrary, many Americans still see a connection between Saddam Hussein and the 9/11 terrorists. Thus, as far as they are concerned, Bush is fighting a patriotic war, and is as popular with them as Thatcher was when she fought the Argentinians over the Falklands.
Personally I wish our leaders would put our country first the way Bush does with America instead of gradually passing our sovereignty to Europe, and generally being very weak - look at the fishing quotas - our fishermen, in their little trawlers, have had their quotas squeezed and squeezed beyong belief by Europe, whereas the Spanish are allowed to virtually do what they want in their massive boats. If B.Liar was as self serving as Bush is, this insidious practice would never have been allowed to happen.

not a Blair fan at all, but when youlook at what Bush has actually done for the US, other than go to war, the answer is 'sod all'. The economy is in a poor state, and schools are failing their kids miserably. Bush and Cheney have played the Patriotic card knowing it will win over those dumb or blinkered enough to vote as their preacher tells them, without actually looking at what he's done for the country. Let's face it, no US president before has done so much to make his country a definite target for future terrorist attacks - I can't believe he's duped them into thinking he's making it safer!
I'm on several message boards with a lot of americans and they are amongst the friendliest people you could know. I've also been there and can say the same
Unfortunately if you wave a flag in front of a lot of them they become mindless idiots. Promise to cut taxes and shout "God bless america" and you nearly do become God in their eyes.
Remind them that Bush has turned the biggest federal surplus in US history into the biggest deficit and their eyes glaze over, they simply don't want to know. I think Bush will get in again, but they will rue the day they did it
Believe me folks, there are plenty of us in the US who are totally disgusted with Bush and his oligarchy here. I have a hard time understanding how people can listen to Bush and not completely see through him, to see the lies, propaganda, and snakey little half-truths that he spouts.
The problem is that Bush and the republican money-machine have nearly endless resources to run focus groups and fine-tune the messages that work best, and they have perfected the double-speak. Bush says these really vague cliches that sound good, and people believe that he'll really do as he says - and then he turns around and does the opposite, and says that he did what he said!
I keep hoping that someone will uncover evidence that Bush himself ordered the prison abuse, or that he explicitly let 9/11 happen, or something.
I actually don't trust the poles, and many other hard-working Americans that don't get to participate in the poles don't think so either. We don't believe it, you all told us the same about his Dad, how he was ahead in the race against Clinton. I pray it only influences more people against Bush, to go out and vote.
Bush is still in favor because the majority of Americans don't know the truth. They take the word of a man that can't even complete sentences, uses the wrong words and appears intoxicated regularly (or perhaps shows the begining symptoms of Alzheimer's disease)rather than take 5 minutes to look at the evidence. How many times can we show that there was NO CONNECTION BETWEEN IRAQ AND AL QAEDA in pre invasion Iraq? President Bush even said it in open press. Open your eyes america! Stop the blind gun toating patriotism. lets find a better cause, focus on our real enemies with real capabilities to harm us. Afganistan was a good start why did we go so far off course?
