Bulge on tyre

I struck the kerb the other day with a horrendous thud. A van was over taking me on a bend and I had to pull sharply to left or he would have scraped me. My wheel rim looks ok but the tyre wall now has a bulge about the size of an egg. Am I in danger of a blowout or can I still drive around town like this for a bit?

no,you cant.it could blow at any time,get it replaced asap,and if a policeman sees it,its a �60 fine and 3 pts.

�60 will be cheaper than the possible damage caused by a blowout (plus you have to buy new tyre anyway) or the fine if you take the risk.
Get it changed asap!

It's a "tread separation" where the rubber has separated from the carcass of the tyre. Forget about the 60 quid it will cost - your life is at risk here and mine if you're anywhere near me. Yes you've been unlucky but please don't push your luck anymore.

Get the wheel checked out for any buckling when you get the new tyre put on it - will show up when they balance the wheel.

Get a part worn from a reputable seller I only pay around �20-�25 per tyre with loads of tread and have never had a problem

PS. And I meant sixty down the drain for a new tyre.. not the fine

carol your tyres are probably one of the few things you can have any influence on your car, choice wise. they are so important so please avoid retreads or part worns and pay as much as you can afford. the difference is worth it
