paperclip symbol on nokia

Why? all of a sudden I have a paper clip symbol on my nokia 3320. When the keys are not touched and the wallpaper and background pics vanish and I have just the grey screen with the time on it, the paper clip symbol is there???

I have checked and deleted all messages etc.

Thanks for that, although I did read that one first and checked all messages etc. It was still there till the wife fiddled with the phone and it vanished but she doesn`t know what she did!!!!
