Some of the shots of Steve and Eileen's trip to Malta looked really good, has anyone been there?

to malta or the place where they were? ive been to malta
if you think that looked good youv'e not been very far
looked like a building site to me
I also thought it looked really nice. Very interesting architecture.
I went to Malta about 26 years ago(!) I thought it was lovely then, quiet, not commercialised at all. I don't know how it would compare now.
I had a wonderful holiday romance with a Maltese man! (Sighs dreamily at the memory) He was GEORGEOUS!
Did you go all the way Black Bunny? ;)
We went once, stayed in Qawra and would never go back. Where we stayed, all the bars, restaurants, shops, etc all closed down at about 9pm and we ended up sitting in our hotel playing board games!

Of course maybe not all resorts there are like this but it definitely put us off Malta!
Stayed in Melliha Town last year. Quite quaint. The buses are 1950s vintage and the geeks were taking photos.
Wouldn't go back. Just something about Malta. They didn't seem so welcoming somehow.
Gozo is gorgeous and very unspoiled.
Valetta is a bit of a dump.
Malta is lovely, Valleta the capital city is beautiful a very interesting island and friendly people who really like the British. No I do not work for the Maltese tourist board!
ecoman - a lady never tells.
Went in 1981. The cars were all old British classics (apparently they don't rust because of the atmosphere) and they drive on the proper side of the road. The food was
lovely and the people friendly. Beaches were a bit scarce but we had a lovely holiday at the Mistra Village resort, which had villas with paths down to a lovely pool.

While we were there Benny from Crossroads was there, and he kept having a go at people for trying to get his autograph and talk to him. His 'minder' had to keep
holding him back from trying to thump someone!

My sisters son was 17 months old when we went, he has just been promoted to Sergeant in the RAF! Where does the time go?

Thank you all for taking the time to answer, it seems by your comments I have a bit more homework to do before deciding to go or not. Uncle al I Googled Gozo and it sounds wonderful.Black bunny it's so good to have such happy memories and hope you have a lot more to come.
went there two years ago on my honeymoon stayed in st julians really loved it had some of the best meals ever in the restaurants there had a great night in the casino in the westin hotel resort too would go back in a heart beat.Valetta was spotless when I was there.
if you decide to go a boat trip to the blue lagoon is an absolute must and you can do a day trip to goza also.
I went in the last week of may and first week in june,
It was very hot Temperature in the 90s, The Hotel Barman asked why we Didn't wait for the good weather, When I asked what he meant he said come here when it is about 110/120 degrees. No Thanx I sweated for Britain for the whole fortnight.
My parents live in Nadur on Gozo and the beach that Corrie used is Ramla Bay, about a 5 min drive from Nadur. The bar they were sitting at is one of two beach bars at Ramla and that one is owned by a guy called Mario. The setting of the last scene where they watched the sun go down is at the Azure Window in Dwerja which is further north in the island.

We go to Gozo every year, my husband loves it and wants to move there. The people are very friendly and welcoming. Of course, they love the British anyway. Personally I think Gozo is a lot better than Malta but then I'm biased. I agree with the Blue Lagoon trip, snorkelling there is a must but watch the fish, they nibble your feet if you're not watching! LOL

We were there 2 weeks ago and the temp was 40 C.

Some places still resemble a building site because they are always building new houses.
