my pal keeps telling me that when she was in canada she had the most fantastic bl**dy mary, made with clamatis or clam juice. i cant seem to find this product in the uk. is it known as something else here?

It is Clamato juice. You can get it here, but it is not common.

I've seen it in Waitrose in more snooty areas (Banstead, Sanderstead both stock it)
Sold in Tesco in North Cornwall, in the aisle with long life juice, eg tomato juice, and on top shelf - so not a very popular product.
Forgot to add - in a glass jar, not a carton or tin.

If you find it, (it's commonly available here in the U.S.) You can also use it for replacement of chicken stock for soups and other recipes... works well. I use it in our summer's supply of Gazpacho...
