My answer to (3) is "red tops" and my answer to (19) is "sCANdal". I cannot work out where the CAN comes from. Any ideas? Many thanks. Aperio

The Red tops contain 'trash' (and scandal) and the trash goes in the CAN ?

Red tops is slang in the newspaper business for tabloids such as the Sun (which have big red logos). They're also sometimes known as scandal sheets, or rags.

Possibly, although I would have expected the clue to have read: "Youngster upset.."
