well i know a woman who has it and is expecting her 4th child any day now. she spent years trying between her first 2 and her 3rd but fell fairly quickly after her 3rd with her 4th.
Im suprised that your doctor didnt give you any information on it but then if you dont ask they dont always give you info.
Do some research or speak to your nurse / doctor. All i can say is that obviously some women with it do have more children after diagnosis. Plus you dont know how long youve had it do you? It may have been there when you conceived your first

I have polycystic ovarian syndrome. I had my first son but before that I suspected that I had it. Extremely irregular periods with bleeding inbetween. I have had another son and another pregnancy since. It does not mean you cannot have more children, it might make it more difficult but there are drugs they can give you to help regulate your ovulation.
Hey Buzzybee, I was very overweight and the only diet known to help those with pcos is the GI diet. Basically the diet that diabetics follow. Women with PCOS have a tendency to be insulin resistant hence making it very difficult to shift the pounds. You need to get really active on top of this. I was stones upon stones overweight and it all came off in 6months following this (and stayed off).
It's quite important to shift it to stop anymore symptoms you may be having cropping up or getting worse. The fatter you are the more likely you will decelop more cuysts which produce more female hormones which make your body produce more male hormomes and when that happens, you could get hairy, skin tags, fatter and even boader shoulders etc bear those symptoms in mind every time you think about eating cakes.

PCOS can lead to excess weight, so once you're being treated for PCOS, your weight should stabilise.
Victoria Beckham has PCOS and it hasn't stopped her having children, I believe it only affects fertility if it goes untreated. It does re-occur so if you are actively trying for children you will need to keep up treatement.
I know it's hard to hear when there is something wrong with you, but this really isn't that bad a condition to have. It is treatable, and it's better to know that you have it.
*hug*

Hi buzybee here is a really good web-site www.verity-pcos.org.uk.Check to see if they have a support group in your area on here and also they have support staff you can e-mail with any problems you have. There is nothing better than getting info first hand. I'm sure everything will be OK once you know all the facts.XX
