A milk churn is usually called a 'milk kit' by farmers (and their daughters - me!). I remember being taken to the end of our farm lane along with the milk kits to catch the school bus. The milk kits were left on a raised slate slab called the milk stand to await daily collection by the Milk Marketing Board wagon.
glad got that sorted, but where i live a churn is a churn it is same as other things called by different names depending on what part of country you live in. thanks for all who have answered this question. Feel better now!
