My dentist has told me I have receeding gums and advised me to use sensodine toothpaste and mouth wash, which I have done for the last month to no avail. I am also taking vitamin B tablets as advised by the chemist, has anyone got any other ideas as to what I can do as I do not really want to go back to the dentist ?

It may help to keep changing toothpaste, always choosing a "sensitive" one.
floss twice a day for the rest of your life.
Try using Corsodyl mouthwash. My peridontal pockets (the bits between the gums and the teeth) are deeper than normal according to my dentist, and was advised to use Corsodyl as it is one of the best for treating and preventing any more gum problems. It is advised to use it for one month only if you are having gum problems. Its not the cheapest mouthwash around, but apparently it works. I have only been using it since yesterday, and it is making my gums tingle after use, which can only be a good thing!!! Give it a try, and let me know how you get on.
