i never did find a way to clean mine successfully, so threw it away in the end and reverted to an old fashioned chip pan. then i gave up with that too, and now don't deep fry anything. sorry i can't help.
put hot water in it and a dish wash tablet and turn it on for a while to heat up . i have never done it cos i throw mine away when it gets yuck .. dont use a chip pan !!
By the time you have spent hours of your life on this, not to mention the costs of the cleaning stuff you could have gone to Argos etc and got another one. Unless you got the one where it completely breaks down into bits then I would suggest a soak in hg degreaser. Job done. for stubborn chip pan stains ... http://www.tableauproducts.com/categories/Carb on_Remover/15
it's brilliant stuff!!
I struggled for years with the el cheapo fryers which were soo difficult to clean and it got to the point when it had it's chips and got so gunged up, it was time to chuck it out and go out and buy a new one.
After about 3 times at this, I eventually wised up and bought a decent one, I lived on beans on toast for a fortnight to pay for it but it was worth the extra . It has a removable bowl which can be cleaned much easier and safer !
