Cutting Down a Conifer
3 Answers
Hi All,
I'm looking at a new house and in the garden is a very large conifer Tree. Not sure the exact height but it is taller than the two story house. and only about 2-3 meters away from it.
As the tree is now quite big it cuts out a lot of light and assuming that there is no presevation order i would want to remove it.
however my concern is would removing the tree cause subsidance due to the roots that are under the house rotting away?
sounds a silly question but i'm just waying up the pro's an con's

The centre of the tree is about 3 meters away but it has a diameter of about 2 meters so the branches get to about 2 meters away.
as for the soil type, the area as a hole is chalky as for this exact garden not sure but i cant see any obvious reasons why it would be different.
