I used to try to ring the changes a bit with mine. One of my cats liked fish paste and pate so I used to crush her tablets into a little of that and she loved it. Some cats also like a little (only a little!) Marmite. You could also try tinned fish like tuna (one of mine will only eat that if I mix mayonnaise in it!). My mum gives her cat his tablets in some yoghurt so really it's a matter of trying to see what she likes.
Ive always given my cats tablets whole. With two of them its the only way to guarantee that the right cats gets the drugs. Also a lot of drugs are formulated to hit the stomach whole.

Over the years Ive perfected a simple method. Start by getting food out ready. This will make the cat salivate which helps the process. Get the tablet out and make sure you have dry hands. Kneel on the floor and back the cat in between your legs. Gently open your cats mouth from underneath by slipping your thump in on the left side behind his teeth (cats have a tooth free bit at the back) and another finger on the right side. Now slip the tablet in and hold his head up and stroke his neck a few times. This will make him want to swallow. Lots of gentle rewarding noises then give him the food.

If you get the tablet wet, stop and dry your hands and start again. You dont like the taste of dissolving aspirin, so you?!

Good luck!
Excellent lankeela, that sounds about right, I have the lasting scratch scars to prove it!
as i have 3, i've found it easiest to put it directly in their mouths rather than crush it in their food. As antiguru says that's the only way to ensure that the right cat gets the medication!

i've never had any problems with this method (explained v. well by antiguru) and have never had the cat spit the tablet back up yet!

love the link lankeela - have forwarded it on to all my cat-owning friends!
hi, i hav the same problem with my cats but a friend told me about a website called:www.hyperdrug.com
and in their catalogue you can buy a syringe type thing that you fill with water then pop the tablet on the end of it and then squirt it all into their mouths. Cos its got water in it it automatically makes them swallow and so taking the tablet down with it. I have bought one and it works really well and it is only a small amout of water and there are no risks with it either. Go on the website and have a good read or request a catalogue and you will be surprised how much cheaper medications are than at your vets. They are UK based.
If she likes meat crush it into her meat instead or her cat food . I had to give my cat tablets and we crushed in into his meat nd he knew we were after a while and every time we gave him food he would run off he wouldnt eat for two days. I was getting worried so we crushed it into his cat food instead and he eat it.
