If any of you have read my past posts you will know about the dilemma we have regarding car retal. with one have of our 8 strong party not wanting to rent a car and us wanting to get one, they have been before and say we dont need one even with our 2 year old son, so we have reluctantly decide not to get one, cause the fall outs are getting worse and i dont want it to spoil our holiday, so PLEASE can someone tell me that it will ok if we dont have a car?

We used taxis to the Disney parks which cost us 80 dollars return each time we went, therefore we didnt see as much of the Disney resorts as we would have liked (such as Boardwalk, Old Town, Downtown Disney etc).
We are going on Thursday this week, staying in a Disney Hotel and have hired a car because it works out cheaper than what we paid in taxis and bus passes for the two weeks (my youngest was free on the I-trolley) but it cost about 28 dollars each for four of us. I think all in all it cost us about 500 dollars in travel last time.
Good luck and hope you enjoy your holiday xx

Hi, I agree with Louise, it depends on where you are staying. Does your hotel offer a courtesy bus to the theme parks? If so then it is not as much a problem but if they don't I can't imagine paying for a taxi to Disney several times that would work out very expensive. Me and my husband were there a few years back before the days of children and we stopped at a hotel where it offered transport to all of the parks and we didn't get a car because of this. The only problem was we were severly restricted to their times which wern't always convenient to us and if we wanted to leave Disney earlier which we often did (their earliest bus was 7.00pm) we had to get a public bus from the Magic Kingdom bus station. This meant catching a bus from whichever park you were in to get there and than having to time it round the public transport buses which was a ball ache and that was before the days of kids!!! Maybe you could hire a car for yourselves and meet up with everyone else in the parks and the rest of your party would soon realise yours was the better option. I have been to Florida several times and would really recommmend getting a car over buses, the heat and tiredness and convenience just makes getting into a car and arriving and leaving whenever you want so much easier. Good luck!
I'm going to Orlando for the 8th time in about a month's time and I couldn't imagine not getting a car.....the convenience of having a car is unbeatable.........and the driving is so easy.; the roads are bigger and the majority of the speed limits are slower than at home (Ireland and UK). If your party is made up of two differnt families then perhaps you could hire your own car ? Having a car opens up the rest of Florida to you....the Space Coast, St Augustine, St Petersburg...too many to list. Remember, thsi is also your holiday if you want a car and they don't then get one for yourself. I understand it is difficult trying to keep everyone happy but think of your 2 year old when you are standing in the heat at a bus-stop..
