Google Earth

I have just downloaded google earth and had a look at the area where I live. There are buildings showing that aren't there anymore and newer buildings that aren't showing either. Does anyone know how old the images are please?

When I looked at my house it showed my car in the drive the car was a Red one I,i haven't had a Red car for 6 years so the pictures must be quite old.

yes they are very old. i believe that the average age for the images are 4 years. google doesnt have a satelite. they just buy images from other sources as mapping the whole world in great detail using satelites would take years
