I lived in the Northern Quarter for a year and I couldn't fault it. This was about 3 years ago now and back then there was loads of work going on there, and from visiting since, I know that that whole area has now become very popular. Our apartment which was 2 good sized double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, large open plan living room and kitchen with balcony, security gates & video phone entry, the lot, was 750pcm back then, so now this may well have gone up a bit. Location-wise, it is perfect - less than 5 minutes walk to Selfridges / Deansgate area, 5/10 minutes walk to Piccadilly....everything on your doorstep....good job you don't drive, as parking is a bit of a nightmare....if I moved back to the city centre, I would move back there. Suburbs-wise, have lived in Didsbury and West Didsbury (prefer West) and have a friend who still lives in Chorlton....all of which are really nice areas in which to live...about 20-30 minutes bus ride into town, nice 'leafy streets' with all the shops, restaurants and bars you could possibly need (I sound like an estate agent here)....try rightmove.co.uk - that will have plenty of Manchester rental properties on there.
