Somehow I have to set the DHCH (spelling?) to make this work and I can't find a decent explanation to acheive this (the instructions are pretty crappy).
Yes, you'll need to use the RJ-45 connection. This is far better than USB for this sort of thing anyway.
You shouldn't have to ignore the DHCP settings. Just plug it in and hopefully it'll work (you will want to change the default password etc. from the router's pages, the 192.168.1.1 stuff).
