I can't think of anyone ever saying I look like my mum but they do my dad and I don't mind at all, in fact it makes me proud, I would also be proud to look like my mother as I think she's wonderful, although sometimes it does freak me out when I catch my reflection somewhere and think, 'oh my god, I look freakishly like my dad just then.'
I think I do look like my Mum so it doesn't bother me when people tell me so, but if my boyfriend said it wouldn't be too happy, he should think I look like me, no-one else lol! also, not really relevant but made me laugh- sleepy1- did it make a difference because you were in tesco, seemed very random!
When I went home a few years ago, I saw an old lady who's been around the village for years and known us since we were all born. She stopped and said "your grandmother will never be dead while you're alive." just like that - no hello or anything!! I know it sounds a bit odd, but I thought it was very moving. I always remember Nanny telling me that when she was young she was known as the girl who was always smiling, so if that's how I've turned out too, I'm definitely OK with it!
Also, I find myself saying EXACTLY the same things to my boys that mum said to all of us as children, but not consciously. These words just pop out of my mouth as if from nowhere, and I think 'good god, who said that?' lol!

If anyone said I resembled my parents I would be surprised. I loved them both dearly but they looked like Hobbits (although mum was less hairy than dad), whereas I take after my maternal grandad who was a tall, blond Norweigan. I'm one of ten children, eight of whom are Bilbo lookalikes while me, one brother and all my cousins look like the viking side of the family.
