Does anyone know which snake is/was known as a Gentleman Outlaw? Thx

Rattlesnakes are known for making a distinct buzzing sound with their tail when disturbed, which is the reason they occasionally are called the "gentleman" snake, as in, "Thanks for the warning, sir." Not sure if this is the same as a Gentleman Outlaw though.
