Fleas

I have no household pets at the moment so I opted to look atfer my neighbours 2 four month old kittens on Friday and was shocked to find out on Saturday that they were both infested with fleas. I am most amazed that their owners did not notice this themselves (due to the constant scratching & grooming) and so have taken it upon myself help the little fellas. I have used Frontline drops on them and have treated their bedding and my sofa with staykill but not the floors as these are laminate although the stairs and landing are carpeted and I have not got round to treating that yet. When I give the kittens back to their owners on Saturday am I going to have an infestation problem in my house?

Congratulations on being such a caring kitten minder! I'd be inclined to treat any carpet, but keep an eye on the rest, though a good hoover, specially in the corners and the edging should pick up any stray 'beasties'. You should be able to get a suitable spray from a pet shop or the vet. When the kittens go back home I'd also mention what has happened to the owners. I hope they'll be as grateful as those poor little kitties are.

We had a flea problem last year with our cats. Frontline did the trick and I did spray round the edges of all the carpets. We did not have any more problems. The fleas need to feed of their host to keep going and if there are no hosts about they will gradually die out.

if frontline is anything like advantage all you have to do is treat the pet. the medication on the pet will spread wherever your pet goes and kill the fleas there too. i used advantage on my kitty cat and the vet told me that it was not nessesary to treat the rest of the house cuz the pet would spread the treatment from his fur to the rest of the house.
