Can you go for an STI test at any point in your menstrual cycle?

Yes, but it is probably better to wait until you have finished bleeding - just nicer for you really. The only exception is if they wanted to do a cervical smear which can not be done when you bleeding.
Just one thing - if you are worried, better to go straight away ,wherever you are in your cycle, if waiting means you might not go at all. Sorry if that sounds 'preachy'.
