time synchronisation
I'm not all that technical but would like the time on my computer to sync automatically. When I tried this I just get an error message. I tried to alter the two contacts to sync to , one was time windows I think, the othertime.nist.gov and tried ntp2ja.net; uk.pool.ntp.org;time-b-nist.gov;time-a.nist.gov (I presume I just tyeit in the line andclick update) but all these failed. Has anyone any tips, please.

Make sure that you are connected to the Internet (of course), make sure that the server under the Internet Time tab is time.windows.com (whatch the dots!) and click on Update Now. I'm sure you've tried this but mine took a while before it said "successful". I did this in Britain, where are you?
Thanks Wideboy
I'm in England. Ihave already tried this but tried it again just to make sure. All I get is the message' An error occurred while Windows was synchronising with time.windows.com.
Before I posted my question I searched the answers here andthat's where I got the other sync 'addresses?' to try. Any more ideas?

tried pool.ntp.org etc typing it into the box to replace the defaut but still get the same message. Don't know how to find UDP port 123 although I have had a search round the computer system. Don't know if I've altered something I shouldn't though as now when I put my computer into standby it 'sleeps' for about a minute them leapsback into life again. HELP
Finally got this to work. I downloaded Dimention4 and made my choice of server but couln't get it to connect. My son came along and advised me I needed to choose a ' primary server' and then he found that the firewall was blocking UDP Port 123, he managed to locate this and clicked 'allow'. It works brilliantly now but I suspect that the original time servers would work now as well since that port has been opened.
Thanks everyone who helped sort this out however don't ask me where to find UDP port 123 on the firewall !!
