if a stepfather slept with his 26 year old stepdaughter after him and her mother were seperated for 6 years what would be the consequenses be if mother brought this information to the law.

I don't think (but am not sure) that step-parents are covered by the law; incest is illegal among blood relations.

i thought that step parents were still classed as parents (ie incest) if they had lived with the child under the age of 16

That's marriage, redcx - and we don't know that the woman lived as the man's daughter under the age of 18.

From the facts all we know is that man is married to this woman's mother and they have been seperated since this woman was 20. She may never have lived with this man as his daughter at any age. We simply don't know.

In any case it is not illegal to have sex with a 26 year old woman when you are married to the woman's mother.

correct me if I am wrong but I think that a stepparent/stepchild sexual relationship would only be a legal problem is the stepparent played a big part in the rearing of the child and was therefore considered as a parent, but as the child in this case is 26 then I think no such restrictions apply

I. Don - you are right, but if the woman was treated 'as a child of the family' and lived with the man when she was under 18, they may never marry, regardless of how old she is now.

That doesn't mean it is illegal for them to have sexual intercourse.
