I am thinking of buying a Macbook with I'work 06 included.
Can you save files from the program "pages 2" in I'work to a CD rom and open the documents on a Pc running windows XP?
In general are any files saved on a cd rom on an Imac openable on a Windows based machnie without trouble?

mmmm yes and no

it's not the machine that causes the problem ... it's the programes you use to read them - some progs just are not compatible

if you consider converting the files to PDF there should be no problem at all!!
.... the only problem is they will be read-only!

Pages can open Word files no problem. I'm not totally sure it can save them though.

Use neo office instead though (It's a free replacement for Microsoft Office, basically Openoffice for the mac).

This does everything like Microsoft Office does.

As for saving the CD: you can burn files easily on the mac, in a variety of formats, including those compatible with Windows and other operating systems, in the Disk Utility app.
The pc "bod" in me sort of wonders ..... if compatibility is an issue why you are considering a mac?

I grew up with macs ... I still love the look and the feel of them ...

it's just in my job .... so few ppl have them

fo3 is obviously more up-to date with mac software (word didn't even have a number when I used it!

If read only is good enough PDF frees you from any other issues
Yes. Both Word and Pages can be saved in a variety of text formats that are completely compatible.

However, if Word is your main program, then why not just buy Word for Mac and have done with it.
