how can i tell if my wifi conection is secure?

There should be a wifi icon in your task bar by your clock. It looks like a tv .

Double click on that - you will see your connection in the pop up pane and there should be a padlock.

You can click 'view wireless networks' and you will get more information.

thanks for that but i have no icon in my task bar.

you need to goto start then conect to click wireless conections then click view wireless conections find your router (usually top of the list) it will tell you if locked however if you have not set a passowrd then it's not secure so when you click on wirless conections click on support tab and find your routers isp from that enter it in your address from there you can set up a password wpa key basically this sets a random basedkey code based on your password
