ITV2 didn't even register on the menu when she attempted to tune the box. She took it back on Sunday and got a full refund straight away, a replacement box was not even suggested by the sales staff !!
My logic is that if a full refund is given and no questions asked, then something has got to be wrong!!
She's know thinking of taking out a Sky subscription.
I bought a set top box for 39 and the recetion here in London is perfect.
It is very good value considering you do not have to pay a subscription.
Also if you have a Sky box you can receive JUST the free to air channels for about 25 a year. Of course if you have not got one it will cost you 199 plus installation, I think this a good investment seeing as Sky about to set up lots more free channels
Bare in mind the the x number of free channels which they promise you include loads of shopping channels which are mildly amusing for a good half an hour and are then extremely annoying. News 24 is really useful, UKTV History channel might as well be named 'Egypt/Hitler Channel'but the music channels are ok, and yes, BBC3 is really good for comedy if your taste is slightly more experimental than only fools and horses and bbc4 does some interesting documentaries. So probably yes. Although the phrase 'freeview' always annoys me seeing as the first thing you have to do is pay for it.
Don't do it, it's pants! We've had it in our house for ages now and hardly ever use it. Don't have a problem with reception, just the channels are cr@p. The only thing worth watching is Baywatch Hawaii and that's saying something don't ya think?!! Music channels are ok but there are only 2! Really not worth it, can't even find the buttons for it anymore it's been so long since it's been used!!
It's good value, there's just not much on it and the best channels are only on a few hours a day. The only absolute plus are the foreign language films on BBC4, as no-one else seems to show these on the terrestrial channels anymore, not even Channel Four. All the comedies, documentaries etc that are on BBC3 and BBC4 are going to end up on the main channels shortly. The music channels and the digital radio get boring after a while. It's a shame they can't get an old movie channel to partner up.
