a couple live next door in an adjacent semi.
they have just put down decking but unfortunately decided to add 8 steps down to a lower level and fixed these to our garden wall.
this has the effect of them walking down waist high and so cant help but look onto us if sunbathing on our patio.
my wife sees this as her little bit of privacy and is most unhappy as people other than our neighbours will use the steps.i would note the wall is their boundary.
she has had a quiet word but to no effect.
is there anything we can do ?

Why don't you just put a small fence on top of the wall!!

If the wall is your property ask them to remove the steps!!

I don't think there is much else you can do!!

Check with your local Planning Department, decks over a certain height off the ground require planning permission, well in my local Council they do.
You could then claim loss of privacy, and if the Council agree they might make them take it down.
Might not work, but worth a try.
Just put up a seperate fence on your side totally independant of their wall. I have just had a costly boundary dispute and it isn't worth all the stress. It caused ill feeling and lasted three years. There are a lot of inconsiderate people living in the Uk and even though it's a hassle putting something up, it will be cheaper in the long run. Please take my advice.
