windows XP shutdown

Why when XP shutdowns and writes message "it is now safe to turn off your computer" the PC doesn't turn off by itself?

Depends on whether your hardware supports being turned off by software. If you've put XP on an older machine, often the power supply can only be turned off with a physical chunk, so it remains on until you do.

That is the difference between the older AT machines and the current ATX ones. mine used to say that message but now after re-installing xp it shuts down automatically
