Hi - Does anyone know how to go about obtaining a copy of their Decree Absolute?

Yes. Copies of all births, marriages and deaths are kept forever at a place called 'Smedley Hydro' in Birkdale, Southport. Tel : 0870 243 7788
The GRO at Smedley Hydro do not hold divorce records.

The Divorce Registry is now part of the Principal Registry of the Family Division. If you need legal proof of a divorce in any court, from 1858 to the present day, please contact:

you can get a copy of a decree absolute from your local court it only costs �1.00 if you ring them first they will tell you your case number and you have to apply in writing .
