Just returned from Protaras in Cyprus which we've been to twice now but we feel we'd like a change next year. Thinking perhaps Greece, Rhodes, Crete or Turkey. We like nice sandy beaches and nice eating places as we go self catering and similar temperatures to Cyprus for this time of the year. Thanks in advance x
We had a couple of lovely holidays in the Greek islands a few years back. Not sure how the places have changed but we went to Skala in Kefalonia and (I think) Skala Kalloni in Lesbos. Both had lovely beaches and a great choice of restaurants, but without being too noisy.
We go to Skiathos yearly, but it's quite small,so if your after history,or hiring a car and touring, then it's not really for you. The beaches are very good, and all over tan if you wish.
If your after similar temperatures to Cyprus, then wait until mid/late June. Heatwave the last week in June,Temps in 100's which, for me,was much too hot
Kefalonia is a beautiful island also, and perhaps worth hiring a car for a few days, although it's twlelve years since we went there
We went to Elounda in Crete in May 2005. if you want nice sandy beaches and a huge choice of eateries - Crete is the place for you. I'm not very good with heat, but on a couple of days it was well into the 90's, but generally averaged in the early 80's. We'd definitely go back again, the laidback lifestyle is good - a good place to relax, take in some of the sights, bit of shopping, sunbathing...
