I'm a driver on the Tube, one of the affected lines, but first, that link is brilliant, i've sent it to all my workmates,
Now that strike, its only the lines that are maintained by Metronet, I think three lines are unaffected, may not help you though, and I really feel for the passengers that are inconvenianced by it.
I had two Metronet workers in my cab today, (Peeway), and regardless of whats being put out, this strike has nothing to do with pay, pensions etc.
The two I spoke to, said that London Underground had given written assurances that their pay and conditions wouldn't change,
In reality, this strike is about the RMT leadership, they want all Maintainence of track, signals and rolling stock brought back 'in house', but LU have said this will not happen,
Ken Livingstone had previously given assurances that it would.
Doesn't help you, but maybe this goes a little to explaing what its all about,
Us drivers are not on strike, but for passenger safety, if the trains and track have not been maintained, we won't take the trains into passenger service.
