real player

I have a basic free Real player which I use for listening to the radio on my pc. Suddenly I have no sound!
I have looked at "sound" on the control panel (looks OK, I think) and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the basic realplayer but still I have no sound. I did set the volume slider to the max.
Any idea what is wrong and how I can resolve it please?

Do you have any other sounds (beeps - WMplayer etc)

I'm afraid that I do not have any sound at all. I have had some extra memory added which should not affect it , but as it coincided I guess I shall have to ask if he somehoe disabled the sound!
I have made a note of the real alternative and will probably give it a go as Real player seems to be inextricably linked to Windows media player.

possibly the sound card was knocked
disturbed the mounting or wire connector
I'd chech this first ... as it sounds favourite

failing that
download the drivers for your sound card
uninstall any existing software/drivers
go to hardware ... remove the sound devices that remain
if at any time windows offers to re-install ... cancel

restart the machine
cancel if windows finds new hardware

install the latest sound driver package

Thank you AC for all your effort and helpful advice. But let me confess the truth.
When I had the memory upgraded, the lad who did it plugged the sound cable back into the socket marked speaker. Have now found out it should have been in the socket with a pic of soundwaves!
I should have checked, or even thought of it as a possibility, but DOH, I didn't.
All's well that ends well, but I feel a "bit of a nana"
