watercolours

I've just started to paint in watercolours,I'm trying to do a cloudy sky but my colours look muddy.Can anyone give me some tips on how to overcome this and any other hints would be appreciated.Thanks!!!!

I'm certainly not the artiste' in this family, but the one that is, (Mrs. C) has always produced vibrant, clear colors in her much appreciated watercolor landscapes (specializing U.S. New England lighthouses). ah yes, I see what the problem was there... such profanity. Nice paintings, though. I'm hoping to be in New England in a few weeks to see the fall colours so maybe I'll spot the odd lighthouse too.
