i am visiting london next weekend and i really want to spend some time in notting hill, can anyone tell me what there is to do there and also how long it takes to walk from portobello road to queensway (bayswater)
i was also interested in ladbroke grove, is this a "rough" area? with it being so close to nottting hill i would have imagined it to be quite affluent and peaceful but doing some research it doesn't seem to be.
i am also interested in soho, if i spent a day there what could i see/do? i am only there for 2 days and want to visit both places, any tips/suggestions?
Portobello Road Market is mile from Queensway tube station, so it's about 15 minutes leisurely stroll.
I can't think of anything which makes Ladbroke Grove interesting.
Soho's only a fairly small area and there's not much of tourist interest except for some good quality restaurants around Chinatown (Gerrard Street area), the small Berwick Street market and some sleazy 'adult' shops and clubs.
Most places of tourist interest are to the east of Soho (e.g. Covent Garden) or to the south (Westminster).
Chris is right, not lot to see in Notting hill, parts of it is a dump, Holland park is brilliant, so are Kensington Gardens, opposite Queensway , walk through there to Hyde park, kensington palace, Dianna exhibition on at the moment, you can get rowing boat on the serpentine, Enjoy London, Soho again as Chris said some good eatin in that area, I would rathe be up in the city, Monument area, Tower of London, Tower Bridge, great area, Ray
