If kazaa is open, the file cannot be moved. The best thing to do is to restart your machine, not to open any programs and go straight into the shared folder to delete the file.

Thanks Chris.I tried that but still no luck.
Try disabling the start on windows (Launch Kazaa Lite automatically) or running as a service. If it does run as a service try stopping the service then deleting the shared folder.
make sure all your downloads/uploads on kazaa are canceled or have been deleted. then close all programs and try then

Nope.Tried that as well.Even uninstalled Kaaza but it still says it is being used by another person or program.
This happened to me yesterday.I sorted it out by moving the file from 'my shared folder' to another folder.I was then able to delete it.
Ive had this happen to me as well. I guess you are running windows xp and the file it says is locked is an avi file. I believe this is a fault with windows xp. In fact I did find a fix which involved replacing some files in media player but I cant remember where now. Have tried restarting in safe mode and moving the file then?
arrgh. Have you tried restarting in safe mode and moving the file then?
Note to AB Ed : How about the ability to edit our own posts?
Boot the PC in safe mode and then delete the file straight from the shared folder. It work every time.
I highly reccomend deleting kaaza and using Winmx instead. kaaza is evil and packed full of adware. WinMx isnt.
I've had this problem a number of times in Windows XP. Have you tried closing the folder and just deleting the root folder from the left hand panel. Sometimes Windows XP wont let you delete files in sub folders if they are showing. In the end I found a little program called "Who lock me" which told me which process was stopping me delete the file, and no suprise it was windows explorer.
I am running XP and have come across this problem. It may depend on what version of Kaaza you are running. Mine is Kaaza Lite K++ this version has no spy or ad ware. When you close Kaaza it minimizes on hides in the bottom right of your task bar, find it right click on it and select exit this closes the application completely and stops it rinning in the background. This allowed me to transfer all my files hope it will be of some help to you.
It doesn't seem to matter if it's kazaa or k-lite I get the same problem, if you're using XP you are going to have to boot to safe mode command prompt (F8 on bootup) then navigate to the folder and delete the file, hopefully you know some DOS commands.
No need to restart in safe mode. Close All explorer windows, then go to Start>run then type "cmd". Let's say your kazaa shared folder is in "C:\My Shared Folder" : type then 'del "C:\My Shared Folder\somefile"' (don't forget the double quotes). Type 'Y' when prompted. That's it.
i had problems deleting/renaming/moving some avi's, this sorted the problem - http://www.videohelp.com/forum/archive/t100406.html
Go to http://www.mykazaagold.com The quality of the music is great and the download times are very quick. It is a great source for and kind of music to download. A must for everyone.

Kazaa Platinum http://www.kazaa-platinum.com recently came into market. I bought it & I think this was the best choice I ever made.

It gives me specific results for my music & movie downloads, unlike Limewire or any other Kazaa.

It also gives a free anti virus programme , free Ipods/ Mp3 transfer software, free CD burning software free, all in just 29.50 $ one time lifetime fee.

I must say it is a revoultion in music / movies downloads.
