I think so; ccj stands for County Court Judgement so I think you would have to be taken to the County Court to get a CCJ.
Yes, definitely. However, a creditor can commence court proceedings at your last known address, so if you have moved, if they have delivered documents to your previous address, the court may have awarded a judgement in your absence. Speak to Experian on 0870 241 6212 or Equifax on 0870 010 0583 for a copy of your credit file. This costs around �2.00 plus 50p for debit card. If there is a judgement at a previous address, you can talk to the CAB and get it set aside if you didn't know about it and there is just reason.
They have to go to court but you don't have to attend. They can deal with it in your absence. However, if they deal with it in your absence then you'll lose and be given a CCJ because you won't be there to defend yourself. Best thing to do, deny everything!

Thank you all for your replies. Am dealing with Equifax at moment as seems to be a problem with previous tenants so waiting on �2 report to come through.
