Why do TV companys put such easy questions when you phone in at a �1 a minute. Surely they'd make more moeny with difficult questions cos you'd phone 3 times to try & win?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Because they're charging an entry fee in the price of the call. If there were no questions it would then be classified as a lottery. The general rule in the UK is that lotteries cannot be run for private or commercial gain.
By having to answer a question (no matter how moronic) it theoretically becomes a game of skill rather than a game of chance. If it's a game of skill you're allowed to make a nice easy fat profit
The reason for the easy question is because it attracts more people to the competition.If you have a chance of winning �1000 then you don't mind spending that �1 or �1.50 on that call.A classic example of this is on Richard & Judy in that game they play "You name we pay" after spending say �1.50 if that on the call, you have a very good chance if picked of walking away with a few or even several thousand pounds.
