Trojan horse infection on pc

i have done an avg scan on pc and found it is infected with trojan horse generic7.enj. Not being too hot on pc's i have checked out my avg programme but am not sure what to do next . It identifies the file , do i delete this file or manage it in avg.

What has AVG done with it? If you can, delete it through AVG.

i note that details are in avg virus vault . you say to delete it thru avg . on the top bar ( in the virus vault) should i click on details then delete should this get rid of it , if so is there anything else to do.

Open the AVG Control Center program -> right click on "AVG Virus Vault" tab -> choose "Empty vault".

And that's it. :)

tks for yr help , the virus vault is now empty , but has this removed the threat from the pc , also should i remove the programme that was infected in the first place.

There is nothing more for you to do. It has been dealt with and removed from your pc. Forget all about it.

But what program was infected?

the programme is on my sons account its an online radio programme called - sam broadcaster , i have told him if needed i will remove it .

Sam Broadcaster is an expensive piece of software (at least �100) and if legitimately bought will be clean.

If he has downloaded it from some dodgy illegal crack site you have got off lightly. You don't need to remove it now it is clean, but of course it is up to you.

Sometimes trojans can hide out in system restore even after removing with your antivirus software.
If you restore to an earlier point at some time the virus could come back.It's also possible for it to reapear without using the system restore.
To be sure of removal turn off system restore ,as this deletes all restore files and any viruses ,then rescan again and turn restore back on.
Bewarned though,you will obviously be unable to restore your pc to an earlier date if need be untill you or it creates an other restore point.
p.s,it's always better to scan for viruses in safe mode.
