Does registered keeper and insurance policy holder have to be same person?

What is the legal position in UK regarding relationship between registered keeper and motor insurance policy holder. My husband is loaning a vehicle to my brother for a year - my brother is a named driver on my husband's policy on the vehicle. My brother's housing management will not give him a parking permit unless the vehicle is registered in his name as keeper. Does this mean my husband's policy cannot legally continue to be the insurance for the vehicle?

It's fine not to be the registered keeper, BUT you must advise the insurance company. If it's just for the reason you;ve given as above, I'd advise you to disclose this information to your insurers, and also to send them a letter/fax/e-mail to save any possible comeback if whoever you spoke to didn't add this info to your policy.

At the end of the day, the V5 only shows the keeper of the vehicle, and not the owner
