Whats the wort like lump on my choc labs eye?

My choc lab has a wart lik lump on his eye which can sometimes seem gunky and red, but other times it seems fine. Has any one got an idea of what it is? x x x

Is it on the actual eye or on the eyelid? If it is in the inner corner of the eye it could be a condition known as cherry eye, where the third eyelid gets inflamed and can prolapse.
It can be operated on and certain breeds are prone to it.
