Just over two weeks ago I asked a friend of mine to let me use his Visa Credit card to book a flight on the internet with easyJet. It was finally arranged and I gave him the cost of the ticket, 94.94 including the extra cost for using the Visa credit card. The booking was accepted and I got a written print-out confirmation.
A week later I arrived at Gatwick airport for the flight to Morocco. While I was at the check-in desk the girl at the counter could not find my reservation although I showed her the booking reference. She finally told me to go to easyJet's Sales Counter. There I was told that my reservation had been cancelled because the card holder had called in and reported the card had been stoien and they felt obliged to refund the money. I was further told that if I wanted to fly that day I'd have to buy another ticket, not at the original price, but more expensive at 138,50.
After arrival in Morocco I contacted my friend in the UK who categorically denied haveing cancelled the transaction. I also sent an e-mail to easyJet asking for further information. Their Customer Service Department has done nothing but fobbing me off since.
They told me that my friend's card had been on easyJet's black list for an earlier fraud case and if I wanted more information I should contact HIS bank. How rediculous.
Could someone please advise me if there is anything I can do now as I find it strange that they had ONE WEEK to inform me of them having cancelled my reservation and I had a written confirmaation from them. Would they not be somehow responsible for this situation?
