there is a phrase that goes something like this -" keeping an exitsting customer is easy its getting new ones which counts" does anyone know the exact wording?.....thanks!

Not quite! I don't know if there's a correct wording, but the idea is:

It costs 5 times more to get a new client than to keep an existing one and existing clients are much more profitable than new ones.
