Squealing Brakes

Hi, I've recently had new brake discs and pads fitted to both sides of my '01 Vauxhall Corsa. It needed these along with a few other things to pass the MOT. Ever since they have been fitted, there is a constant squeaking / squealing coming from each side. Not when braking but constantly as the car goes forward. I've had the car back to the garage and they checked the brakes over but can't see anything wrong. The brakes work perfectly fine but it's just the squealing is a bit annoying. Any thoughts as to why they are making a noise and what can be done about it? TIA

Will they stop squeaking eventually? They didn't seem that cheap when I paid the bill!!

The car has done just over 79k miles. The discs and pads were changed because they failed the MOT due to excessive wear. How much did the wheel bearing repair cost? It just seems strange that the noise only appeared after it had been in the garage.

Go back to the garage again. If their work caused the squeaking/squealing, make them look harder. The noise is not normal and is being caused by something. A copetent mechanic should find the fault.

My 206 had this and so did the Corsa and both cars it was the brake calipers (sp?) or the in the case of the Corsa rust on the brakes the first time which was causing them to rub slightly.

If you don't get any luck there, try another garage as they might need de-rusting or releasing.

take a close look at the brake pads and see if there is any copper grease on the back of the pads this should be added when new brake pads are fitted . also try and find where the noise is coming from the front or the back .To determin this when driving pull your handbrake up slightly if theres no noise its not the back ,obviuosly do this in a safe place

The brake calipers should be cleaned before the new pads are fitted. Dust in the internal edges can cause the brakes to sqeal.

its not the calipers that need cleaning its the carriers that hold the pads this is not expensive
