Spider's taking over my house
9 Answers
Up until two weeks ago I had not seen a single house spider of even a medium size in my house but then all of a sudden I've been getting at least one of the blighters a night. I'm talking about huge ones. I think they are coming from my kitchen but just don'y understand why i haven't seen any for two years and all of a sudden I'm getting loads of them.
Has any one else encounetered the same problem lately?

I saw an absolutely massive one on our bed last night. I think it may've got caught up in a towel on the floor. My 2 year old daughter was with me and I had a bit of a screaming fit, thats the last thing I wanted to do as it passes on the fear, my mum is petrified of them too. As a 38 year old man I did feel a bit daft afterwards but I cant help it - they freak me out. Spiders are from hell, I'm sure of it. You'll see them for a few weeks yet and then they'll dissappear towards the end of October. Maybe someone knows why they only come out in Sept?
I have had millions (well dozens) in the last few weeks.
whilst not spider-phobic (arachnophobia is a silly word), I do not enjoy their rent free company. I have a housemaid who is meticulously clean and tidy, there is not a crack in my walls or floor boards and if you find a cobweb in my house I will give you a thousand pounds.
Lord knows where they are from. I kill the bloody things. Sorry.

(panting whilst writing this...(on releiving the ordeal!)) I was on my way to my friends house on Saturday and I looked up and there was this 'bleep' ing ly hideous enormous spider on my sun visor. I had to pull over at the first opportunity, after screaming like a girl (which I was several years ago) and ask some random bloke who was gardening across the road to remove it for me. (HOW EMBARRASING). How the frick did that get in there?
Fortunately at this time of year there is also a freely available 'remedy': don't laugh - conkers!
They don't like them. I don't mean throwing them at 'em, but placing a few conkers around the skirting board, kitchen door, window frames etc, should keep them away.
It might seem daft but (nervously crosses fingers) - it has worked for me so far this year.

I have been having the same problem for a few weeks now. I am petried of the things and they are the biggest spiders I have ever encountered in my life this year.
I tried the electronic plug in device but it did not work.
I spoke with a colleague last week from the Environmental Health Dept and he told me they come in the window and that is also where they lay their eggs.
He advised me to get a hard wired brush give all the window edges a good brushing down, inside and out then spray the edge of the windows with an insect repellent.
I did this last week and have not seen a spider since.
Good Luck.

both me and my wife where both scared of spiders until we moved to a house in the country we now have a house full of them and dont really have a problem any more, we have a couple of "in house" regulars that travel round but always return to their own corner and the great thing is, they keep the fly and bug population down.
